The Language Levels at Oxford School of English

At Oxford School of English, we believe that students, employers and educational institutions can benefit from a precise knowledge of the language levels achieved by our students.  Because of this, all our classes are closely tied to the Council of Europe Common European Framework of Refererence for Language (CEFR), an internationally-recognised system of measuring proficiency in languages, and the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) frameworks.

Oxford School of English is one of the only Schools in Oxford to offer courses at all six of the CEFR levels, as well as offering short-term and long-term courses for beginners.  Between September and June, in addition to our General English courses, we run classes at B2, C1 and C2 which prepare students for the Cambridge ESOL examinations (FCE, CAE and CPE respectively), where we are perhaps the most successful school in Oxford, with approximately 90% of our students passing the exams since the beginning of 2005. In addition to this, we offer thorough preparation for a range of other English Language exams, including IELTS and TOEFL, and as Oxford's test centre for TOEFL, we are uniquely placed to help students with their studies for this exam.
